When considering nursery decor options, many people mention creating a themed nursery. If you think that a themed nursery has to be old-fashioned and involve Disney characters with something like Donald Duck or Winnie the Pooh bedding, then you are in for a treat.

There is nothing wrong with Disney or other cartoon character bedding, that particular style does not appeal to everyone. While Disney character baby bedding is available for those parents who want that style, there are many other great themed bedding sets to choose from in styles from traditional to contemporary. Here are a few ideas for more modern themed bedding sets.

Safari and jungle themed nurseries are quite popular and the bedding sets available to create this theme are some of the best selling themed sets around. A nursery full of jungle animals including monkeys, elephants, tigers, lions and giraffes will be a lively place for your baby to explore. If a bedding set containing the whole jungle full sounds a little too wild, maybe something with just one jungle animal like a playful monkey crib bedding set is more your style.

Western themed nurseries are another favorite of many moms with lots of cute cowgirl or cowboy crib sets to choose from. There are several great sets featuring stylized horses, western stars, cowboy boots and other western motifs if cutesy is your style. If not, there are many other western themed sets that have a less babyish look. Glenna Jean’s Cassidy & Banjo is just one example that uses a retro western print, denim, a bandanna print and a plaid to create a very unique and beautiful look that would be perfect for a baby boy or girl.

While you may not consider black and white a theme as such, black and white crib sets are often created using ultra modern print fabrics creating a very contemporary look for the nursery. Accenting a black and white nursery with vibrant red or maybe yellow really creates a stylish look that your baby won’t outgrow in a couple of years.

Before you totally dismiss the idea of a themed nursery, take a look around. There are lots more great modern nursery themes that have nothing to do with Disney characters.
