Is A Microwave Stand Right For Your Kitchen?

Posted by Modern Homes in Appliances, Kitchen

If you’re like many homeowners with a small or medium sized kitchen, you’ve probably run out of space to organize your things. With small appliances, fruit, spices, and a microwave taking up most of your counter space, there’s not much left to actually prepare food. Microwave stand’s are a simple two legged shelf that solve this problem by raising your microwave to a more desirable 8-10 inches above your counters. This also frees up the space below your microwave to store all of the things that have been cluttering up your counters.

Although they solve a similar problem, microwave carts take up much more room than a microwave stand. A microwave cart is a stand alone unit, usually with wheels that is designed for medium sized kitchens or business break rooms. They have a large top shelf for holding your microwave, but also have extra storage, drawers, cabinets, or sometimes hook for hanging pans and other cookware. The difference between a microwave stand and a microwave cart is that the cart is essentially an extension of your counters. Without the extra square footage to support the cart when it’s not in use, it will only get in the way.

Usually, the square footage of your kitchen will determine if a microwave cart or stand is better for you. If you have an extremely small kitchen, and want a better way to organize your clutter, a microwave stand will give you about 3 square feet of extra space to work with. However, if you have a large kitchen, but limited counterspace, a microwave cart can extend those items on to a stand alone unit that can even be put away when not in use for the ultimate de-cluttering of your kitchen. Both solutions will give you more space to prepare food, but each has a different way of accomplishing the same solution.
