Heating Alternatives For Your Home

Posted by Modern Homes in Heating And Cooling

As the cost of fuel goes up, different ways to heat houses are becoming sought by home owners. An old, yet still effective way to heat homes is to use wood burning stoves during the cold months of the year. Some people like to use a furnace in combination with their stoves, setting the temperature low and then using their stove to gradually make it comfortable. Wood stoves are not perfect, and some people prefer multi fuel stoves for this reason. You actually have quite a few options for fuel when it comes to using a stove to heat your home.

Choices for Fuel

Wood burning stoves can typically only burn wood, which might be a problem depending on where you live. Multi fuel stoves can use wood, chips, pellets, coal, and sometimes even sawdust. If you work with wood at all, this is a great option, as it takes care of trash and transforms it into fuel.

Different Looks for Stoves

The majority of stoves are square shaped and made of cast iron. If you want something else, you can get ones that look like a fireplace, complete with a mantle. Or if you want a different color, ceramic stoves can come in a variety of hues and may present a more modern atmosphere. With the rising cost of heat and electric bills, wood burning stoves are becoming a viable option to help people stay warm. Wood is often abundant, especially if you live out in the country. If that is not an option, multi fuel stoves may be a better choice. Either way, such stoves will help shave money off your heating costs and provide a more pleasing and rustic feel to your home. Stoves are available in many sizes, so you can find one to suit your home no matter how large or small it is.
