Adding Bedroom Colors to Your Home

Posted by Modern Homes in Bedroom

Of course, you probably know that you need a paint color for your walls. However, there are a lot of different needs for paint in this kind of room. It’s such a budget friendly way to decorate that you probably want to use paint whenever possible and even in kids rooms. This means that you will be able to create an entire color palette or scheme. This can be a little bit daunting at first. The paint stores take a lot of the guesswork out of it if you just know how to use all the services that are available to you.

You probably know that paint strips are usually put together with different shades of the same tone. This allows you to get a darker or lighter version of the same color which can be very useful for picking out a ceiling or trim color. However, if you just want to find a coordinating paint color then you can look through all of the brochures. This is perfect if you want to bring in an accent wall because usually these kind of palettes have already been put together by a designer. Plus, it’s a totally free service and you didn’t have to pay an interior decorator.

Another way to choose bedroom paint colors is to really just pull the colors out of your bedding. You should look really closely at all the different patterns and colors that are in the fabric. Your instinct may be to go with a dominant tone or the largest color. Instead, you can really get a coordinating color just by looking a little bit closer and trying out the least dominate pieces.

It’s also important to pay attention to the details when you pull a color palette together. For instance your furniture might have a few metallic accents. If it’s modern, you might have stainless steel. Vintage pieces often featured gold or gilded accents. This is really going to be your starting off point for choosing light fixtures because you will need to coordinate everything throughout your space. In fact you could even use this as the inspiration for the wall color, although metallic paint is quite expensive and difficult to apply. You could just paint a flat tone that looks to be about the same color, although it will be totally different because of the sheen.
